Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.

Rina Sawayama and Elton John: Chosen Family
Grey is the one man inside Second Life who I have always been able to count on to be there for me. Grey has always taken me at face value, never wavering in his loyalty to me and I to him. I discovered he had returned to Second Life after a long absence, and it was comforting to know that if I needed a friend, he would be there for me. When my world in Second Life imploded, Grey did not hesitate to come when I called and listened as I raged on. Not once did Grey try to interfere or give advice. Grey let me get it all out, and when the storm calmed, he stayed by my side and became my anchor, my calming grace. Then, one day, Grey threw me for a loop, telling me he had been in love with me for all of our SL. Well, bust my buttons! I always had a thing for him, but I told myself he thought of me as a friend. Then he left for a long while, and I continued my life inside SL. He asked me to be his, saying he would not take no for an answer. He professed he would spend the rest of his SL days rededicating every song dedicated to me and revisiting every region I have visited with former partners until not a single memory did not include him. Yeah, I keep a list, lol. I don’t know any woman who would reject that kind of proposal. If there are, they are off their rocker, and I can assure you I am not, though former partners might disagree. Hahaha. Of course, I said yes. I love this sweet, gentle man.
Now Sydney is my SL sister. She is precious to me. We hit it off almost immediately four and a half years ago. We are so in each other’s heads it’s spooky. She is even beginning to text like me. What can I say other than I would walk through fire for this woman? I love her that much. As soon as I log on or she does, and we see each other, we text to say hello. Knowing she is in the world brightens my day. She gave Grey and me the ultimate honor of being Maid of Honor and Best Woman at our wedding. I love you, sister of mine.
We are a small family by Second Life standards, but our love is enormous and genuine. All is right in our SL; we look forward to many hours filled with adventure, laughter, and love.
Be kind to one another. Find joy in the small things. Till we meet again.
