I am in love with a few homes, ones I could have used in the current build that is taking shape, but I wanted something that speaks of a new start, something so different from what I have used before. The “Grand Victorian” by Chelsea’s Children’s Clothes is grand. I’ve focused on it for a few years, grabbing a DEMO here and there just to do a walk-through. I have done several walk-throughs. On September 27, 2024, after my world imploded, I took the leap and bought the Grande Dame.
Once I rezzed it out, I did another walk-through, and a feeling of buyer’s remorse started to sink in. I wasn’t sure I was up to the task of doing a significant renovation to the lady, so I put it away and placed a house I had used in a previous build. I continued to work on the landscaping and then came back to the house, and it just didn’t feel right to me. For a few weeks, I carried that feeling around. Finally, I had enough and deleted the house in place and rezzed the lady out once again.
Immediately, my heart and soul felt at peace. I realized this was going to be a time-consuming project. I’m picky, and there are many things I would need to change. First, the exterior and interior textures—all the walls and floors — must be changed. It has a garage; I am not wild about garages. For me, they are a waste of space, but I sucked it up and decided I would make the overhead apartment into a maid’s domicile. The lady has six bedrooms, a living room, a great room, a dining room, a kitchen with breakfast area, 2 full bathrooms, a laundry room, a butler pantry, a mud room, a home theater room, another room on the main floor I will use as a game room, along with an extra room off the master wing that opens onto its own private covered porch. Two more covered porches are attached, so plenty of outdoor spaces exist. As I said, this is a large project.
So far, I have changed the paint colors inside and out. I am not a fan of loud colors, although the color in the great room is a shade of blue I have used in several builds. I changed the floors to a beautiful parquet floor I used in a previous build. The swimming pool attached to the house, along with a fence, has been removed, and in its place, I put down a new pool. Sidewalks and driveway are down as well. The interior doors have been changed, and due to the former textures being painted over, I’ve had to put down crown molding and baseboards. I have interior archways and exterior balustrades; the moldings must be textured. I am learning new things, which I feel is always a good thing.
Now, this house does have some quirks. Chuckles. It’s not unusual for me to log out at night after working on the house and log in the following day to find textures I didn’t even touch askew. I don’t know what is up with that, as I carefully select the proper face for the textures. The house is a prim and mesh build, but primarily prim. The land impact is more significant than any other house I have used. Can we say 1K? Yeah, we can. Good thing I have plenty of prims/land impact to spare. It will be a nightmare to lock it all down.
This lovely lady is more me than any other build to date. I thought I could have this done by the end of the year, but I’m no longer setting an end goal date. I am going to take my time and enjoy this process. Besides, I don’t want to wind up having surgery done on my hands again. I will post updates on the progress here and there.
