No, this is not the beginning of a new chapter in my life; this is the beginning of  a new book!  That first book is already closed, ended, and tossed into the seas; this new book is newly opened, has just begun!  Look, it is the first page!  And it is a beautiful one!

I’ve had so many starts and stops trying to build a new environment in my region these last few months.  There have been three, maybe four times I have gotten to the halfway mark only to tear them all down.  I either tried to redo Petit Lac Des Cygne or build something that was not me in the least.  Several new homes were purchased in the process, and none felt right.  It was on a recent window-shopping excursion that I came across this particular build.  It’s by Barnesworth Anubis, and as I walked the floorplan, inspiration hit me, “What a great winery this would make.”

Now, if you ever toured Petit Lac Des Cygne, you know there was a winery, albeit a small one, but this build is a collage of several wineries that can be found in Indiana, my home state.  And yes, I have visited several of them.  Did I ever mention I love wine, with Reisling being my favorite and Sangria a close second? Oh, and that is any kind of Sangria, thank you. Who da thought?  I’m digressing here.  So,  anyways I began to layout the build.

The vines take up a large area of the region. Water is supplied from the surrounding mountains in the form of a small waterfall that spills into the river that, in turn, winds its way to Little Swan Lake.  Yes, there will always be a Little Swan Lake in one form or another in my builds.  What is new is a horse barn/stable, and the home I chose.  Surprisingly it’s not one of the new ones, but one I bought almost two years ago.  I am excited to decorate actually designated bathrooms and the kitchen.  Oh, how I have missed my kitchen!  Another structure sitting in my inventory screaming to be used has been set out. I will post on it as well.

The build will take some time to complete.  Being afflicted with bilateral carpal tunnel, I can’t do a lot of manipulation with my mouse for extended periods.  I was slated to have surgery, but COVID hit, and well, you know the rest.  Hopefully, before the end of the year, I can have the surgery I so desperately need before I lose any range of motion in my hands and fingers: a nurse and textile artist’s worst nightmare.

I have another photo of the build that will be shared soon, along with a bit more information.  In the meantime, I raise a glass of Reisling and a glass of Sangria to new beginnings.  I do have two hands 🙂  Be kind to one another.  TWMA♥

I would like to thank:

Tea. An aromatic beverage commonly prepared by pouring hot or boiling water over cured leaves of the Camellia sinensis, an evergreen shrub (bush) native to East Asia. After water, it is the most widely consumed drink in the world. This according to Wikipedia.  Whateevveerr.  All I know is that there is nothing better than a hot cup of tea, or two, or three to get my morning, my afternoon and my evening started.  Laughs. And ice tea is served year-round in my home as well.  I also make a pretty mean currant scone which would make my British/Irish/Scot ancestors proud.  So it should be no surprise that I would pay homage to tea at Petit Lac Des Cygnes.

Several builds were considered before settling on the Pavilion de Boulogne by China & Goodies.  It’s not a massive structure; four rooms in all measuring 19 meters x 24 meters.  Land impact is on the heavy side, but the Pavilion textures and overall appearance are outstanding.

The vestibule is the first room you enter.  Its furnishings while ornate are kept to a minimum.  In the center of the room is a round table with a small portrait of Marie Antoinette, for which the Pavilion is named.  Lilacs scent the air.

Off to one side of the vestibule is the former boudoir now a private dining room for two.

Returning to the vestibule, through the double doors you will find the oval Grand salon.  Here is the main tearoom furnished with white wrought iron furniture, afternoon tea, and all the trimmings.  The doors can be opened to catch the gentle breeze.

On the other side of the vestibule is a “raucheffoir,” or small warming kitchen where tea and all it entails is prepared.

Outside in the surrounding garden are tables, each set with a different tea set that is interactive.  Armillaries house an intan, birds chirp merrily, water trickles softly from the fountain while lights twinkle through the maple trees.  A lovely spot for friends to gather or maybe a romantic interlude for two?
