This past week has been somewhat of brain fart for me.  RL took precedence (as it should), and I just couldn’t decide what to blog about until I happened upon a bloggers challenge from Portia Pexington .
I think we all rezzed in on the Linden Labs SL viewer and then proceeded to a TPV.  I stayed on the SL viewer as it was user friendly (Phoenix was difficult for me to maneuver and I hadn’t heard of Kirstin’s yet).  When I discovered you could make up outfits in the appearance tab and save them and then change from casual to formal with one click of the mouse my SL experience became much easier.  When I switched to FS I was glad this option was available. I can’t imagine not having it. 
My Beauty Base Zero is aptly named Basic Cougar.  It is the foundation for all outfits in my closet and has not changed that much in over 2 1/2 years.  I do wear a hair base but added the pulled back up do for this post.  Also added was the lingerie as my BBZ is nude.  I just make sure before hitting save that everything is covered in the right places and sorry not gonna show my fugly system feet either 🙂

Confession time…I wear only one skin, one set of eyes (blue), one set of eyelashes, pretty much one set of nails (french) and only one color of hair (black).  Why? I will go into greater detail in another post, but, being native american I made the decision to keep my Avie that way too.  It does put limitations on choices available to  me for sure, but I don’t mind in the least.  I like a challenge 🙂  TWMA 🙂

My first blog post is a fairly long one but serves 2 purposes….first and foremost it is about believing in yourself and taking chances no matter what people may say.  In the words of J.R.R. Tolkien from Lord of the Rings…

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door.  You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

I can’t wait to see where this road takes me and I hope you will come along.

The second is about a cause that is near and dear to my heart.   At some point in all our lives we have been touched by the dreaded disease Cancer.  Whether it be a family member, friend, co-worker or just an aquaintence we have seen first hand the damage cancer can cause.
    
Fashion For LIfe will begin on March 9th and runs through March 17th.  All proceeds raised go to The American Cancer Society. Hundreds of content creators have created special items for this event covering 9 sims.  I hope you plan to attend FFL. I know I will be there and will gladly spend my lindens for such a worthy cause.   TWMA  (Till We Meet Again)
I BELIEVE I CAN FLY
They believe… be sensible, prepare now, save for the future, work hard while young, enjoy when old, no pain no gain

They believe… compromise, follow the crowd, stay within the lines, keep your head clear, keep your eyes  straight ahead, feet on the ground

What about now?  What about roses? What about stars?  What about chasing rainbows, floating clouds, butterflies…?  What about silver linings, serendipity, spontaneity…?  What about moonbeams, sun-rays, raindrops?

On The Wings of Hope
According to Native American Legend 

If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.

Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all.
In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom, the Great Spirit always grants the wish.
So, according to legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom the wish will be taken to the heavens and granted.
 
Although this legend implies that we should keep our wishes silent,
there are some wishes that need to be expressed out loud.
To those that have been touched by the disease we are helping to fight today,
We wish the caregivers strength and tranquility,
and thank them for their gifted labor of love.
We wish the survivors a long and happy life,
and thank them for showing us how to fight with courage and determination.
We wish those currently fighting the battle energy and hope,
and thank them for showing us what true bravery is all about.
And finally, we wish the victims peace and love,
and thank them for the joy and happiness they brought to us.
With this symbolic gesture, we honor those that have left us and encourage those left behind to continue the fight “On the Wings of Hope”.
